SurfAid #MAKEAWAVE Challenge Is Back For 2023

SurfAid #MAKEAWAVE Challenge Is Back For 2022

SurfAid is excited to announce the return of its Make a Wave Challenge for 2023! This year, the organisation is partnering with iconic surf brand Rip Curl as its primary sponsor.

This September surfers from across the globe are teaming up to take part in the third annual Make A Wave challenge. From September 1st to the 30th rookies and pros alike will surf for 30 days straight to make an impact for SurfAid.

The Make a Wave Challenge is a peer-to-peer fundraising initiative that encourages people to surf throughout the month of September while raising money to support SurfAid's programs that provide healthcare, clean water, sanitation, and nutrition to families living in remote surf communities. Make A Wave welcomes surfers of all skill levels to participate and raise funds through their personal surfing challenge, in turn making a tangible impact on the lives of those in need.

Here are some of the ways people can make a difference through the Make a Wave Challenge:
  • Surf for 30 days straight and raise money to support SurfAid's programs.
  • Create surf inspired artwork throughout the month.
  • Donate to a friend or family member who is participating in the challenge.
  • Spread the word about the Make a Wave Challenge and encourage others to get involved.
In 2021 and 2022, I took part as an ambassador for the Make a Wave Challenge. I am currently assessing my availability to take part this year and if I do, what it might look like. Stay tuned for an update from me around this, but be assured I will support the initiative in some way shape or form.

Here are some additional details about the Make a Wave Challenge:
  • The challenge runs from September 1st to September 30th, 2023.
  • Participants can surf anywhere in the world.
  • There is no minimum fundraising goal.
  • All funds raised go directly to support SurfAid's programs.
