Claire Wee has inspired me to take on #Inktober this year.  I'll be following the illustration suggestions by @FurryLittlePeach .  My approach to this is that I'll be using a Hp Tilt Pen on my touch screen Hp Spectre to create black line illustrations. These illustrations are made available on in a Google Drive file so that others can download use them as colouring in sheets or add their own creative touches, making it a collaborative experience. 

SurfAid #MakeAWave 7 Day Update

I am proud to be an Ambassador for the SurfAid's #MakeAWave challenge. I had set out to be either surfing, kayaking, canoeing or swimming for 30 days in September however I'm based in Melbourne and current COVID restrictions have impacted this. Instead for the first 7 days of the 30 day challenge I was either kayaking, training with waterfilled training equipment, getting creative or doing surf inspired workouts. 

So far I'm $146 towards my goal of raising over $1000 to help SurfAid deliver their programs. When you support my fundraising you give people in remote communities connected to us through surfing a hand up, rather than a handout. 

SurfAid's geographical focus is on the heartlands of surfing where few visitors but surfers go, make their work unique. They specialise in working in very isolated villages where the maternal and child mortality rates are some of the highest in the world.

Day 2:
  • 7.51 km total kayaking in a K1
  • 48 minutes and 42 seconds


Day 3:
  • 1 hour of training with PTP's Aquacore


Day 4:
  • 8.02 km kayaking in a K1 for 49 minutes and 49 seconds in Paddle Vic Marathon Virtual Race


Day 5:
  • Creating a watercolour artwork of a wave incorporating 100 push ups
  • Push ups completed on 2 minutes until fatigue/fail: 12, 14, 16, 10, 12, 12, 10, 9, 5


Day 6:
  • 5.44 km total kayaking in a K1
  • 46 minutes and 19 seconds


Day 7:
  • 1 hour of training using an Indo Board, primarily balance training
