Top 3 Hair Masks Of 2019

Garnier Fructis Strengthening Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask +Banana Extract

Our hair withstands a lot; styling, colouring and being blasted by the elements. All of which makes an impact on the health of our strands. For me, personally years of being active and taking part in water sports saltwater, chlorine and sweat haven't been kind to my hair. Split ends, breakage and dryness are just some of the issues I face as a result of my lifestyle. It's no wonder hair can end up frizzy, dull, and dry.

Just as we use face masks to treat our skin to some much needed TLC, it's essential to take the same approach to our hair. Although there are some pretty impressive conditioners out on the market, you might find that a hydrating hair mask is what your hair needs. Why a mask over your conditioner? A mask treats your hair with more of the active ingredients that your hair needs.

There is a hair mask for you out there, no matter what your hair type or your hair concerns! Below I've reviewed 3 of my favourite hair masks from 2019.

  • Treatment time: 10 - 15 min
  • Leave-in treatment option: Yes, make sure you use a towel to protect your sheets if using it overnight
  • Conditioner treatment option: I've read some online reviews from people who are using it in place of a conditioner even though it doesn't say it on the packaging.
  • Suitable for colour treated hair: Yes
  • Vegan: Yes
  • Cruelty-free: Yes
  • Sulfates: No
  • Silicons: Unknown
  • Parabens: No

  • $4.99 for 60g
This hair mask provides some serious bang for buck, when I say bang I mean hydration. After just one use, I found my hair to be more manageable and with less frizz. I did, however, find that it left my hair looking a little oily, which is why I wouldn't use this product 24 hours before an important event. I would use it a few days prior instead. I love how easy it is to use and that you can purchase trial sachets to use before committing to a huge tub. It's a great way to try a product without being too concerned if it will work for you. The two key ingredients are Chia Seed to help thicken and promote hair growth, and Argan Oil to regenerate dull, lifeless hair.

How to:
  • After washing your hair with shampoo, towel dry your hair.
  • Comb a walnut-sized dollop of product through your hair from root to tips.
  • Allow 10-15 minutes before rinsing.
  • Can be used as an overnight masque treatment, but be sure to wear a cap or use a towel to protect sheets. Rinse out in the AM.

I've used this product a few times and have been exceptionally pleased with the noticeable improvement in the quality of my hair. This product has worked wonders on my dry and damaged hair, by hydrating and deeply conditioning while improving texture and shine, as well as combating split ends and frizz. I have also noticed that after using this hair mask that it is much easier to straighten my hair, and it also stayed straightened for longer too. This product is incredibly easy to use, and with the options of using it as either leave-in treatment or a quick hair mask, it's perfect for my busy schedule.

How to use:
  • After washing your hair with shampoo, towel dry your hair
  • Comb a generous amount of product through your hair to ensure even distribution.
  • Leave on for just 5-10 minutes, or longer if you have the time.
  • Rinse with warm, not hot water. Finish your rinse through with a final quick rinse with cool water.
  • For dry hair, use 2-3 times a week. For normal hair, 1-2 times a week. For oily hair, avoid the scalp and focus on the ends of the hair.

A delicious smelling 3-in-1 treat for your hair. You can use this product as a 1-minute hair mask, a conditioner or as a leave-in treatment. While trialling the product, and applying it as a leave-in hair treatment twice a week, I noticed a significant improvement in how moisturised and smooth my hair looked. I've found this product perfect for use after a gym or training session when I'm short on time but want to show my locks some TLC.
