The workshops will have a special focus on celebrating International Women’s Day, with this year’s theme #ChooseToChallenge.  #IamRemarkable is a Google initiative empowering women and underrepresented groups to speak openly about their accomplishments in the workplace and beyond, thereby breaking modesty norms and glass ceilings. In this interactive session, you will participate in group discussions and exercises to develop the confidence and skills to promote yourself effectively. During the 90 min #IamRemarkable workshop we will: Share data and research regarding self promotion and unconscious bias Go through the main exercise to help you articulate your achievements and practice self promotion Have a discussion and share take home exercises This workshop will leave you feeling motivated and confident to self-promote your achievements and refresh the conversation around

Massive Murray Paddle: Update 4 - Can You Help Me Make A Difference?

When I signed up to compete in the 2019 Massive Murray Paddle it was a no brainier for me to align myself with SURFAID as my chosen charity to raise funds and awareness for. As an avid surfer and paddler, I'm inspired by the work that SURFAID does as a non-profit humanitarian organisation, whose aim is to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing.

I've set myself the target of raising $3,000, so far I've raised $22.07. If I reach the $3,000 mark it could help provide water and nutritious food to these communities. Whilst I've been preparing to kayak the 404km course over 5 days for the Massive Murray Paddle I'm mindful of just how easy it is for me to access drinking water, access water to rinse off my equipment and wash my myself with, I can easily fuel myself with nutritious food and seek medical treatment if needed. However there are those who do not have the same level of access to these resources as I do, and they are just trying to go about their daily lives - that's where SURFAID comes in.

Some stats on how the funds I'm raising could help SURFAID make a difference:
  • $50 buys a weighing scale
  • $100 Buys a chicken farm
  • $200 covers the cost of a nutrition garden
  • $500 provides training for a midwife
  • $1000 builds a water well
  • $5000 ensures safe births for ten communities
  • $10,000 clean water for an entire village⠀
  • $25,000 provides clean water, basic healthcare and improved nutrition for an entire village!⠀
Please help me help SURFAID make a difference by giving whatever you can via my Everyday Hero campaign at https://give.everydayhero.com/au/nicole-tattersall-s-massive-murray-paddle. You may want to donate 5c towards every km of the race, or maybe you want to keep me accountable for my training and donate $1 for every km I kayak in preparation or km I run (yes, running is part of my training).

Plus I'm auctioning off my collection of painted skate decks to help raise funds for SURFAID, with bids starting from just $10 +postage! These skate decks have been painted by myself and other Australian artists. I'll be donating the funds generated from each sale (minus postage and listing costs) to SURFAID to help me reach my fundraising target of $3,000. To view the painted skate decks visit my eBay store.
