This is the going to be the furthest I've paddled to date. I have signed up to be on the start line of the Massive Murray Paddle on November 18th 2019. The Massive Murray Paddle is a 404km 5 day course on one of the most beautiful sections of the Murray River, Yarrawonga to Swan Hill.

It will my first time competing in this iconic event and an event of this distance. I've been competing in flatwater marathon and sprint kayaking and canoeing for a few years now in Open and Vet 35 Women's. I thought it was about to time that I take part in the Massive Murray Paddle and put my skills to the test.

Details of the race:

I'll be paddling the race solo, and currently I'm preparing to race it in a K1. I have yet to nut out the other logistics such as accommodation, land crew ect. as yet.

The Massive Murray Paddle Course:
  • Day 1 Monday November 18 - Yarrawonga to Tocumwal 93km
  • Day 2 Tuesday November 19 - Tocumwal to Picnic Point 94km
  • Day 3 Wednesday November 20 - Picnic Point to Echuca 78km
  • Day 4 Thursday November 21 - Echuca to Torrumbarry 62km
  • Day 5 Friday November 22 - Murrabit to Swan Hill 77km

Fundraising:

I'll be paddling to raise funds and awareness for SURFAID. As an avid surfer and paddler I'm inspired by the work of SURFAID and wanted to support them by raising money. SURFAID are a non-profit humanitarian organisation whose aim is to improve the health, wellbeing and self-reliance of people living in isolated regions connected to us through surfing.

Please help me help them by giving whatever you can via my Everyday Hero campaign at https://give.everydayhero.com/au/nicole-tattersall-s-massive-murray-paddle
